February 22, 2010 - Turbulence Leaves Flight Passengers Hurt

Nearly 20 passengers on a United Airlines flight from Washington to Tokyo were hurt as a result of turbulence during their flight Saturday, rescue workers say.

The Mainichi Daily News said United Airlines Flight 897 landed in Narita, Japan, after encountering turbulence while flying over Alaska.

Rescue workers said after the Boeing 747-400 landed at Narita International Airport, injured passengers were transported to the hospitals. The extent of the injuries was not released.

Kyodo News reported 16 passengers were hurt.
